Members, Mike Robson and Tony Staveley, were lucky enough to join the volunteer team at the spectacular Tall Ships Regatta that took place in Falmouth between the 15th and 18th August.
Supported by the spirited and tireless coordinator, Heidi Channel, they joined the 120 volunteer team to receive the thousands of visitors to the 12 tall ships that were berthed alongside each other beside County Wharf. With walkie talkie in hand Mike was involved in the safe routing of traffic in the town whilst Tony helped guide and answer questions from visitors arriving and leaving the docks by ferries. Throughout the three days that the tall ships were alongside and with visitors looking around them there was a fun-filled atmosphere to a background of performing ship's crews and sea shanty singing by locals. Tony said "It was a great few days supporting this amazing event. It was also good to see current member Jane and past members Sue, Eve and Claire, on the wharf enjoying an evening out with the Penryn Photography Club busy taking spectacular shots of the ships in the bright evening light."
