We had a fascinating presentation on the Newquay Wave Project at our January meeting. Newquay is part of a UK wide network of charities working with children and young people who are struggling with their mental health. The trained volunteers provide surf therapy aimed at children struggling with depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts and self harm.
The children show significantly significant improvements in their self confidence, resilience, social skills and ability to build trust with others. Currently 1 in 6 children struggle with their mental health. The Wave Project provides therapy that doesn't feel like therapy. For more information see www.waveproject.co.uk

We received a warm welcome when we visited Skinner's Brewery for a tutored beer tasting. A jolly time was had by all.
We helped Friends of Coosebean and Truro's Countryside Rangers to clear rubbish around the Coosebean Cycle Trail and Fairy Doors during February.
Unfortunately fly tipping is rife in some areas away from the cycle path where people have dumped unwanted items such as children's bikes. Overall though the Coosebean Valley is teaming with wildlife and testament to the work of the lots of people under the stewardship of Truro City Council. We are supporting Falmouth Rotary with this partnership event at Falmouth Polytechnic which runs from 5th - 9th March 2024. Protecting the Environment is one of Rotary's key areas of focus.
Please come along to find out how you can help with the fight against climate change. Scan the QR code above for more information. We were delighted with the response to a new initiative to collect coats for St Petrocs. Attending Devoran Village Hall in February we collected 13 waterproof coats, a tent and £27 in cash. We plan to be at Devoran Village Hall again on 9 March so please bring along any waterproofs for us then.
We will be running a cake stall at Truro Leisure Centre on Friday 23 February 2024 from 3pm - 6pm. This is to mark World Roatry Day an all funds raised will be donated to the Shelterbox Urgent Gaza Appeal.
