We look forward to meeting you at Truro Volunteers Day this Sunday (21 April 2024). The aim of this event, which is taking place on Lemon Quay between 11am and 3pm, is to promote volunteering opportunities. We hope to see you there.

April is Rotary Environmental month and to mark this we are highlighting our participation in a water testing project.

We have signed up as Citizen Scientific Investigators working with the Westcountry Rivers Trust. We regularly survey and test three areas of the River Kenwyn to monitor the quality of the water.

​The aims of the project include producing data to identify degrading waters and spotting pollution events so they can be dealt with as quickly as possible.

We were delighted to take part in the Exmoor Rotary Challenge on Sunday 7 April 2024 - it was a great day walking - a bit muddy but the rain held off. We covered 9 miles in total ( it should have been seven but we took a wrong turn!).

Paul Haines, goodwill ambassador for the charity childrenofpeace.org gave us a great presentation at our April club meeting. Paul has completed many pilgrimage walks for peace over the years. His most recent was in Scandinavia. There is so much to learn from his experiences and his talk made us all reflect on Rotary's key area of focus - Promoting Peace.

During May and June I will be walking for Peace from Tallinn to Riga, Vilnius and then onto Warsaw - a distance of approximately 700 miles. I will spend time in the cities I visit researching for my website www.linkstopeace.org.

I will walk wearing signs with information about my walk and a peace flag. I will also carry one of my books in which I ask people to write their message of peace. I will engage with as many people as I can to help raise the profile and awareness of peace in this world.
