The Rotary Club of Truro was founded in over 100 years ago in 1922, it ran as thriving club for many years supporting many community and international projects throughout the years.
In 2015 a new evolved satellite club was founded, known as Truro Evolution, this club recognised that our way of life has changed over the years and so provided a path for those that needed a club that better fitted in the with their lifestyles.
Following the Rotary Club of Truro's Centenary Year, it seemed the perfect time to review and relaunch a new era of Rotary in Truro and so in July 2022, Truro Evolution took over the mantle and history of The Rotary Club of Truro to become a main club, in it's own right, known as The Rotary Club of Truro Evolution.
A Brief History.......1922 - 1982
One of our members owns a booklet published in the eighties which outlines key moments in the history of the Rotary Club of Truro from 1922 - 1982. It is interesting to see the issues which were of interest to members in the past....including 'the discontinuation of the 3.30 pm from Paddington in the winter' and 'the dredger question'.
The Rotary Club of Truro Evolution - Relaunch
On the 2nd July 2022, it was with great excitement that The Rotary Club of Truro Evolution, transitioned into a club in our own right, taking on the mantle and 100 year history of The Rotary Club of Truro. With some of the members of The Rotary Club of Truro remaining as members following our official launch celebrations. Our way of life has changed over the years and we have evolved into a new ways of doing things but our aims remain the same.
For many years, The Rotary Club of Truro, organised the very popular annual Pancake Race on Lemon Quay, raising many thousands of pounds for Marie Curie and other good causes. Those were the good old days when people worked in offices and even got a lunch break.
