We were delighted to host the Youth Speaks event in Truro in January. Truro High School kindly hosted the event which brought together students from Truro School, Richard Lander School and Truro High School. The standard of debating was extremely high.
The winning teams (above) will go through to the area event in Camborne in February.

We are glad to support the Rotary End Polio campaign. To mark World Polio Day in October we planted hundreds of purple crocus bulbs in our local park. We look forward to the display in the New Year.

We had a fascinating presentation from Luci Isaacson of Climate Change at our meeting in September. Luci encouraged us to fill in individual plans to help manage our risks in the event of a flood. We also heard that Climate Vision have 400 places available on a 2 day climate change course. To register interest contact Luci by email using the button below.

Members Mike and John proudly installed the plaque in Victoria Gardens in Truro to commemorate 100 years of Rotary in Truro.  The waterfall is a wonderful feature of the gardens and we are honoured to have our club recognised in such a beautiful setting.

New President - Cathie Shipwright

Cathie Shipwright (left) chaired her first in August as new President, and paid tribute to former President Jackie Southon who has now assumed the role of Treasurer. Jackie is pictured above with her assistant Albie!

The meeting discussed a calendar of varied activities for the year ahead including restoration of a water feature in Victoria Gardens, crocus planting to mark World Polio Day and a display to highlight International Day of Peace.

Children's Hospice South West Siblings Support Fund

At our meeting in August w heard a moving and inspiring presentation from Stephen Lay, who has raised £102K in memory of his late wife Carol, for the Siblings Support FundChildren's Hospice South West. This money has funded six community support workers, and helped 450 siblings and 400 bereaved siblings.
